How To Fix – Client File Does Not Match Server Error in CSGO

Valve just pushed a new CS:GO update, in their patch notes they have mentioned something related to sv_pure. What this means is if the files from the client don’t match with the server’s files, the user will be kicked from the game.

Many of us use tweaks such as VibranceGUI, Bananagaming information plugin etc. Those plugins are most likely creating issues with the game. This happened to me a few hours back when I was trying to start my game, I had to remove the bananagaming script to fix the issue. I have mentioned the whole thing that you have to do to fix it, continue reading to find out.

How To Fix – Client File Does Not Match Server Error in CSGO

Patch Notes for 5/4/2020

Below are a few things that I did to fix my issue.

Verify Game Files using Steam

The Bananagaming script probably tinkers with the files leading to the error popping up. This can happen with any script that you might be using. Valve strictly advises to not use any software/script that changes your game files.

To fix this

  • Open Steam > Library
  • Right Click on CS:Go > Local Files
  • Click on “Verify Integrity of Game Files”
  • The client will do its thing and download any files that might have a changed signature.

Repair SteamService.exe

Depending on the location of your Steam installation change the directory.

  • Start command prompt and type “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\SteamService.exe” /repair”
  • Press Enter and wait
  • Restart computer
  • Launch Steam
  • Find a match

This fixed my issue.
